Just looking: SS/16 collections

SS16-fashion-collectionsThat suede Sienna coat from Boden has already sold out once. Catch it while you can if you fancy investing in some proper suede this season – it’s bound to become a classic piece you never grow tired of. The same might not necessarily be said of every other piece I’ve picked out here but they’d certainly see me through the year and beyond. As the new collections start turning up like spring bulbs (earlier each year seemingly) it can be a bit much to consider shopping for new stuff but that’s okay because we’re just looking (for now). PicMonkey Collage2PicMonkey Collage3Clockwise: The perfect little saddle bag and this season Boden has improved the design with an easy magnetic fastening / A new take on the breton top, I like the slightly bat-wing sleeves and dipped hem. /  I’m trying to do more skirts this season: this A-line version has a great shape and split./ Wide crop trousers (that aren’t actually that wide) so you can try the trend in comfort – love the petrol blue colour.PicMonkey Collage7Next up, New Look, which doesn’t so much have a new season collection but something new each week. Here’s what caught my eye: This simple denim t-shirt has a nice boxy shape and I like the frayed hems / A great summery update for the duffle bag collection – will go well with tan stuff / Just really like the neckline and sleeves on this pleat front shirt / These faux suede sandals will go with everything this summer.PicMonkey Collage4PicMonkey Collage6Great Plains has only released a few new pieces so far this season but I love what I’m seeing. The slouchiness of these joggers is calling to me but the crepe fabric stops them being too casual – would look just as good with trainers or low-heeled boots/ Is this not the perfect summer coat? It looks warm enough to wrap around jumpers for now but the delicate grey colour and loose trench style would see you well into a British summer. / I can’t resist a clever jumper with some beautiful details. This one has everything.PicMonkey Collage8 PicMonkey Collage9Oh H&M, how do you always do this to me? This place just has too much stuff I like. Of the many cropped trousers springing up, the olive green colour of these suit trousers really grabbed me (not sure how I feel about that cut-out shoulder trend, ask me again in Summer). / The new shoe shape of the season, this suede pair is an affordable way to buy in. / This dogtooth check wool jacket is perfect for throwing on with jeans or a smarter outfit too – love the neckline. / This new, looser take on dungarees looks a lot comfier than last year’s skinny version and the wider leg is still on trend. / Alternatively, if you want to go platform, do it with a pair of black patent ones I say.PicMonkey Collage10And finally Mango, where everything just looks far more expensive than it is, don’t you think? I love the easy, grown-up simplicity of this funnel neck dress (also available in light grey) / Perforated shoes, whatever next? Well at least they’d be breathable if not wholly waterproof. Slightly ridiculous, yes but I bloody love these and they have a great platform sole too! This check shirt dress has a bit of a sixties feel, no? So floaty for summer days – wear over tights or skinnies now obvs. / And that shoe again, here in a soft, elasticated tan suede. NB: Topshop does a lovely grey leather version of this glove/nana shoe too.

Right let’s stop there shall we. Metaphorically peel your nose off the virtual shop window and keep walking – it’s still only January!

P.S. More from indie brands and labels coming up soon, as promised.

Oh those flared dungarees look much more up my street than the skinny! Not looked in Great Plains for ages either so thanks for the reminder! X

I love the suede coat. I have a soft suede trenchcoat style one from Part Two that I got on ebay for a couple of quid.

I really love the look of those dungarees, but I’m wondering what on earth I’d wear on my feet? I have this problem with my other dungarees, which only work with either sandals or trainers (with no socks).

Glad you like Julia. I’ve just bought the denim blouse and it is such a nice piece at such a bargain price. It has a lovely boxy shape (which i like) and I think it will look really good as the weather warms up (soon I hope) xx
