Spring is here and that means swapping winter coats for lightweight macs, breezy blouses and legitimate ankle-baring!

The days are warming up (okay I live in the north so you have to wait until the afternoon sometimes) but I’m feeling much more justified in going sock-less (perhaps in retrospect February was a little early) and swapping darker, heavier clothes for a more lighterweight wardrobe. It literally feels like a breath of fresh air when this happens and I love it. Whole new swathes of your wardrobe, tucked away in storage, start to look quite appealing again. All those pretty summer tops and blouses you’d forgotten about: dig them out and start re-introducing them slowly into your everyday wear. Layer them up with denim, underneath dresses and contrast them with chunkier cardigans for now until summer finally hits.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Coat: Laura Ashley / Blouse & Dungarees: c/o Fat face / Shoes: Jemima Vine

While I like a crisp, white shirt, there’s something very freeing about a casual summer blouse or boho top that doesn’t need to be ironed. This embroidered one from Fat Face has just the right vibe. No regimented buttons, just pop it on over your head. A slightly crumpled, cheesecloth / linen appearance is actively favoured and combined with the ease and comfort of these dungarees, dressing is a real breeze. Probably why I’ve been wearing them for the last few days straight (they’re almost as comfy as my PJs). And as for those shoes, I’d forgotten how red can have such a positive effect on both my outfit and my mood. Again, foregoing zips and laces and black for something slipper-like in soft red suede felt like a subtle sea-change that is most welcome. And it even spurred me on to try a red lip – love this matte red stain look – which also has that magic effect of making your face look a bit more alive don’t you think? OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Are you feeling spring yet?

Dungaree <3! I had no idea until recently that Fat Face made clothes for grown-ups (I thought it was all surf hoodies!) These are lovely, I'll have a look around our local store next time I'm there x

Kat you look BEAUTIFUL! I love this get-up – especially the soft lavender duster jacket alongside that pop of red – a colour combo i’d never have thought would work but it totally does against your lovely English Rose complexion – just lovely!

Hope you and the kiddos are well xxx

Kathryn //

Aww thanks lovely Sally – kind of you to say so. The kids are in fine fettle xx

Ahh blouses that don’t need ironing – the dream! You look amazing in this, really chic and breezy. Can’t believe the top is Fat Face! Love all of it – those red shoes are to die for. I also wore a mac today and it felt amazing… though a little nippy (shhhh)

Oooh Fat Face do dungarees? Polly ripped my old ones up beyond repair (don’t ask!) so I need a new pair. Ta! x
