The sweaters are out so I think it’s safe to say I’m now well and truly feeling autumn (and one or two chills). As usual I’m looking for pieces that help to keep me warm and stylish through the day but aren’t averse to an evening out.
The latest addition to my knitwear arsenal is this beautiful boucle style sweater from Genevieve Sweeney. I love this talented British knitwear designer’s work (you can read my Q&A with the woman herself here). Each season she brings out a small but perfectly formed collection of unique, luxurious yet oh so wearable knits.
You all know by now what a sucker I am for navy and I felt drawn to something of the faux fur effect you almost get with a voluminous, bobbly texture like boucle. It’s the next best thing to wearing a fluffy jacket and just as warm, plus it feels slightly dressy given half a chance (this outfit came out to get pizza with us all one evening this week). The Aaron sweater is designed to be unisex (though I suspect Greig won’t be getting a look in with this) so it has a nice longer length that looks good when worn out, especially over skirts but I quite like adding a bit of definition with a tuck into my jeans too. This is a size medium for reference but doesn’t feel like it’s drowning me.
An extra mention in dispatches must be given to these jeans, which seem to be garnering lots of interest on my instagram. Mine are from New Look (that shop again!) but I think the high street is awash with similar versions including Gap. I was quite surprised when I tried them on as I expected the centre seam wouldn’t do my thighs any favours, but they were surprisingly flattering and a really good fit. I’ve said it before but New Look is my new H&M I think.
The bag is another new purchase as I couldn’t resist its soft buttery feel and comfy slouch when it hangs from my shoulder. It’s faux leather (hence the affordable price) but I think it looks and feels quite realistic. It’s also a bit of a Mary Poppins bag, as it has a large interior zipped pocket plus space either side to stow/retrieve things quickly and seems to have a capacity way beyond its appearance – really lightweight too!

Apologies for the short post, I’ve had some technical issues to sort out on the blog plus y’know half term duties, so I’m trying to play catch up!
