Over the summer we seem to have spent our fair share of time in parks and gardens (mainly my choice so I can look at the pretty blooms). So when Boden got in touch to ask if we’d like to get involved with their Get a Lungful campaign I realised that we hadn’t been for a proper, blow the cobwebs away type walk in ages and it was the perfect excuse to get up into the Yorkshire Dales. They are right on our doorstep really and yet we don’t spend enough time there. But better late than never and besides I love the colours right now when the heather is still purple, the grass is quite lush but the bracken is browning. And best of all, the kids really stopped and stared and took in the breathtaking scenery (which is rare!).
It felt so good to get out somewhere so beautiful and remote. Although I have to say, there is an amazing Yorkshire Dales ice cream parlour en route which is always a good place to stop when you’ve worked up an appetite. They make their ice cream using milk from their very own herd, which we bumped in to on the way!
How cute is that picture of Charlie? He has this habit of picking up a piece of grass and chewing it in a proper Tom Sawyer / Farmer Giles type way. I’ve no idea where he’s got that from – a film presumably – but it is quite sweet. Oh and by the way, in case you were wondering where Bea is, she did come along but ended up napping in the car – not before she’d had a big old paddywhack about not being able to chase the sheep and cows! Oh yeah, there’s always one!!
P.S. Do you like the kids’ matching wellies? I never usually dress them matchy-matchy but couldn’t resist and they LOVE them. You can see all three of them modelling them in this post here too.
Big thanks to Boden, as always, for kitting us out and giving us the excuse to ‘get a lungful’!
