A handmade Christmas with Laura Ashley

I wasn’t completely in the mood for Christmas at that point, although the downpour that struck as I was trying to find my way to the venue certainly made it feel more like winter. So much so, that as I shook out my umbrella and was welcomed into the warm, dry and wonderfully twinkly room that had been laid out I really started to feel quite festive. Of course a glass of prosecco and a mince pie always helps too.

Myself and a bunch of lovely bloggers had been invited to get our Christmas craft on and learn a few handmade tricks ahead of the big day itself so if you’re one for being organised and like to start these projects about now, I’d thought I’d share a few photos to hopefully inspire you.

I started off on the handmade Christmas card table with Natasha from Candy Pop and Sade from In my Sunday Best – aren’t their cards really pretty? Mine turned out slightly (completely) upside down (this is what happens when I craft on alcohol) but the idea is simple enough. Using some of the beautiful Laura Ashley wallpaper samples we had a go at cutting out shapes to decorate cards. I attempted to use a scalpel to create a cut-out shape and then you can place a piece of wallpaper behind the design to create a background.

There was also Christmas stocking making to try but due to excessive chatting/munching/snapping and socialising we didn’t make it on to that table! I may have been a bit distracted by all the sparkly homewares and new season womenswear too.

Big thanks to the lovely folks at Laura Ashley for inviting me along to this event. Check out their gorgeous blog for more interiors, fashion and crafty inspiration.

Ooh you get to go to the best events! I love a bit of christmas crafting although my skills aren’t up to much! I really have the urge to make mince pies now though – is it too soon? xx

Oh, I love those snowflakes in your last photo, I spent last year’s Guide Xmas weekend stapling them together like a demon. I love the sound of this event – right up my street!

What a lovely event! I’m getting a festive feeling just looking at all these pictures. Actually, I think I’m going to start my Christmas crafts soon. It feels early but that’s only because I make a habit of panicked crafting in the lead up to the big day.
