In honour of the Rio Olympic games, DFS has created the Britannia and, like Team GB, it’s a sofa to be proud of!

As a professional armchair sportswoman, I’ve loved watching the Rio Olympic games from the comfort of my own lounge this summer. Hasn’t the cycling been amazing? And the gymnastics, and the diving and the tennis and the athletics? So many proud moments to relish as our fantastic country men and women do us proud. They really are modern day heroes to me and such an inspiration to the younger generation so I haven’t minded letting the kids stay up a little later during the holidays to catch some of the highlights. As for me, I’ve been turning night into day, staying up far too late to make sure I could watch the likes of Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Max Whitlock and Laura Trott live – amazing stuff!DFS is the official homeware partner of team GB for this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio and I think it’s worth getting behind these brands that help to support our athletes. They created the Britannia sofa (pictured above), which was designed and made in the UK, to showcase the best of British design. As you can see it’s a twist on the classic Chesterfield sofa and I love the gold studding! This sofa of champions has been centre stage in British House, the home of Team GB during the games in Rio – just imagine who has parked their super human body on that recently!
DFS has also been working with Team GB stars gymnast, Max Whitlock; cyclist, Laura Trott and swimmer, Adam Peaty to produce a series of videos filmed daily from the Team GB house in Rio this summer, called Great Brits: Game On. Hosted by British presenters, Reggie Yates and Justin Moor house, the videos have already featured many famous faces each day, taking part in entertaining challenges from toy archery to slip n’ slides and water balloon catch plus the flip it challenge.
Have a look through the DFS YouTube channel and watch some of the previous videos filmed since the games kicked off – it’s great to see some of your favourite Brits mucking about and having a laugh when they’re not about the serious business of sport. And you can even get involved yourselves if you fancy having a go at the Flip it challenge at home.
Enjoy the rest of the Rio games!
