THE HAPPY LIST #122

Trying macrame, a new coffee table book and the best white trainers (probably). Plus everything else I’ve been liking and loving this month.

A couple of weekends ago we went to Salt’s Mill in Saltaire, near Bradford. Bookshop, art gallery, home of Hockney originals – it’s one of my all time happy places. Have a read of this post from the archives if you want to see why (my kids look so young in it *weeps*). We had Sunday brunch, drank milkshakes and, as usual, spent far too much money on books and art materials for the kids. However I did manage to track down a copy of a book I’ve been after for a while: The New Garconne – How to be a Modern Gentlewoman by Navaz Batliwalla aka Disney Rollergirl. It’s not just another instagrammable tome (though I do like the cover). Inside is a collection of great interviews, exploring the life and style of some really interesting, modern women like Bella Freud and Caroline Issa. I recommend!

Oh and that lovely blush knit? (1) That was a recent purchase from Bias – a new Harrogate boutique selling some beautiful Danish fashion labels. Check it out if you’re over this way!

Speaking of fab boutiques (segue), Hero in Stockbridge is a destination store you should definitely seek out if you’re at the other end of the country. If not, check out their range online. Among some of my favourite labels (like Needle knitwear), they stock Seven Boot Lane. Could these be the best white trainers ever*? (2) I love the silver detail running along the back/side, which kinda make me feel like I have winged feet (in my head, ha!).

When your favourite fashion stores launch an interiors range…always exciting. Have you seen & Other Stories (3) has started doing stationery? This could be dangerous!

Matching my nails to my favourite vintage cup (4). Okay not really, that was a fluke but it brought me a small moment of happiness. To those asking on my IG, that nail colour is Denim Patch by Shellac and it’s one of my new favourites!

Listening to another new podcast: Let’s Discuss by two of my favourite bloggers – Ella of Coco’s Tea Party and Monica of The Elgin Avenue. These two friends are discussing everything from careers, blogging, life and love. Have a listen!

Mother’s day – it was just lovely this year. We were pretty blessed with the weather last Sunday eh? We decided to visit another on of my happy places: Constable Burton Hall which has one of the best displays of daffodils at this time of year. This post should give you an idea – just gorgeous (and can’t believe that was two years ago already)!

This hand cream (5) smells lovely and I picked up a tube for my mum while I was in Anthropologie over the weekend (it’s a tradition – I always get her hand cream for Mother’s Day). I was actually there to attend a workshop to learn macrame. It’s a craft I’ve always wanted to try and within an hour or so I had a pretty good plant holder! Anthropologie run some really nice creative workshops at affordable prices. Check out their events page here to see what’s coming to a store near you.

Snagging a bargain always makes me happy. How pretty are these bralettes from Primark? The fit and feel is great too. And that little metallic candle has satisfied my desire for something copper-coloured and pineapple-shaped (for the bargain price of £2.50).

While I was having a shop, I couldn’t resist a look in & Other Stories. I also couldn’t resist buying this t-shirt (7). Need I explain why – I mean it’s perfect for me, no? Have a read of my latest outfit post for more on red shoes and slogan tees.

No Happy List of mine would be complete without some flowers and as cliched as it is, I still find the blossom (8) is such a welcome sight at this time of year. Plenty more where that came from on my instagram.

And finally, I’m really excited about a new event that’s just launched called NOW Conference – that stands for North of Watford by the way because it’s actually taking place up North, in Manchester! Yes, really! It looks like it’s going to be brilliant and I am definitely going to be there. Essentially it’s for anyone interested in blogging, social media and creativity. Check out this site for more details – Early Bird Tickets go on sale on April 1st.

Bye for now,
