New eye make-up finds, bathroom treats and the joy of knitting – plus some of the best things I’ve seen and read online.
Considering it’s nearly June, knitted woolly scarves might not be high on your agenda but I personally wear scarves pretty much all year round (adult comfort blanket??) and I love chunky, textured ones that mimic boa constrictors. Anyway, half term is around the corner and I’ve decided I’m going to try to take an extended screen break and do something calming and creative with my hands. So I’m very much looking forward to getting stuck into my new kit from We Are Knitters*
Reading the Sunday papers over a slow breakfast or a pub lunch is one of my favourite things to do – well, it just got a little bit better if you read the Sunday Times Style mag. Not only does it have the wonderful Pandora Sykes’ weekly Wardrobe Mistress feature but now my other favourite Claudia Winkleman has just joined as a columnist. And if you really can’t get enough of CW, then she’s back on the telly hosting The Great British Sewing Bee too.
Waking up to the dawn chorus in a yurt at Knepp Wildland Safari park as part of the Canopy & Stars collective. Okay 4.30am was a bit early but it was also a bit magical. Lots more photos and info in a post to follow soon.
Working away with a posy of Bloom & Wild flowers* on my desk. Beautiful flowers that arrive through your letterbox will never not be a brilliant idea!
Speaking of which, this article on the loneliness of the home worker is spot on!
It’s nearly June, so regardless of the weather, it’s time to get your summer/beach accessories sorted. This beach bag (love the pom-poms) and gladiator sandals combo* is my favourite from Boden, who make some of the best in the business.
Finally watching the film Suffragette. It’s brilliant and as the EU referendum looms, no matter which way you go, please exercise your right to vote.
Being inspired by Lori’s beautiful bedroom makeover – so much to love!
Finding some great eye makeup that even I can use. First up is a cheap and cheerful eye shadow palette by Boots 17 range called Easy on the Eye. It comes in the warm shades I have (see above) as well as a cooler palette of blues/mauves. The colours are wearable, the brush is soft and it costs less than a tenner.
I’ve also been trying to pay more attention to my brows (I’ve noticed they make me look far more groomed if they are). I’m a recent convert to Benefit’s Gimme Brow, which helps my sparse brows look fuller and more shapely. Plus, I got to try out some great new products at a recent Benefit event, so stand by for a new range dedicated to getting your brows on fleek.
Shuzzing (how do you spell that word?) up the bathroom with a couple of nice treats: a Marimekko towel and lavender hand soap from Toast. Funny how just a couple of new bits can make you feel better about a room (and mornings).
Bye for now.
