A weekend in Cambridge, Chanel dupe slingbacks and a great shampoo for colour treated hair – plus some of the best things I’ve seen and heard recently.

April seems to be rolling on by doesn’t it and it feels like summer will be here before I know it. Slow down though spring I’m still admiring all your pretty blooms especially the Magnolia, my favourite.

We’ve just returned from a weekend in Cambridge and despite a bit of shower dodging, managed to fit in some punting on the river (which I hadn’t done since 20 years ago). It felt quite nostalgic to be back on the water, this time with the mister and 3 kiddos in tow. Crazy how time flies! I might do a little post on Cambridge if you’re interested as it’s such a beautiful place for a weekend break.

I’ve actually just recovered from a week long sore throat virus thing which wiped me out a bit. Oh the joy of being able to eat and drink again without it hurting – I made up for it over the weekend though with pancakes, ice cream and burgers (not all at the same time).

Flatlay: Just a little summer outfit* from Fat Face – but how pretty is the lace on that cami?

Also, I’ve discovered long tube skirts; a great way to ease into spring and technically get the legs out without feeling too chilly/exposed and look great with trainers and a denim/leather jacket. I got mine a while ago from Mango but this one is similar.

The return of Made in Chelsea (a long-standing guilty pleasure).kay-got-the-cream-lifestyle-blog

A really cute subscription service* called Style by Portobello – bringing you surprise vintage finds from Portobello market each month. I tried the scarf set, which included two vintage silk scarves in perfect condition; good for trying the neckerchief trend or use them as a belt like I did.

Seedy breakfasts. I’ve been buying lots of healthy omega seed mix plus chia seeds to sprinkle on my porridge and cereal; to off set the excess of Easter 😉

Thanks to a recommendation I’ve also discovered that TK Maxx is the best place to buy affordable training equipment. I picked up some dumbbells and Pineapple wrist/ankle weights for a tenner. Now I just need to use them.

Love the revamped Chanel slingback? Try these dupes: £17.99 from New Look (err which have seemingly sold out online sorry – but check stores!).

Looking for great haircare that’s also 100% vegan? I’ve been trying out Swedish brand Maria Nila, in particular the Luminous colour shampoo & conditioner* for the last couple of months. I like its fresh fruity smell, containing the antioxidant properties of pomegranate that help protect hair colour and since my last lot of highlights I do think my hair has retained the colour better and not turned quite so brassy as it has done in the past. Love that it’s sulphate and paraben free too. You can also buy it from Sally Express.

Okay I think that’s it – bye for now!
