Received wisdom would dictate that you never, ever buy the crazy or impractical when sales shopping, even if it does fit and it is a real bargain. But I would argue, that on occasion, you really can still strike it lucky. So I’ve scoured the shops for just a few of those wonderful, wildcard pieces that might just be perfect.
Trumpet, bell, bows and ruffles – this season it seems your sleeve is nothing without an embellishment or a bold shape. Eating disasters aside, a statement sleeve is a great way to update an otherwise simple outfit and works day to night too. Here are a few of my current favourites.
I don’t know about you but I find party dressing quite stressful. I leave it until the last minute to decide what I’m wearing for that big night out and then I either underdress and feel a bit disappointed in myself or panic-buy something ridiculously glitzy which doesn’t really suit me and gets worn for one night only. So here’s my guide to a few special pieces that will be party-worthy but also work well in January and beyond.
Apologies to anyone expecting a masterclass on Christmas gift wrapping! Sadly I didn’t get around to that post this year. Instead I’m talking about wrapping myself up, in lots of nice cosy layers, plus one or two gift ideas that wouldn’t look amiss wrapped up under the tree either.
