I love the weekends. This one in particular has been a bit of a whirlwind, involving another trip to London, this time for Blogtacular conference; a fantastic event for bloggers/social media fiends and all-round creative types. I’d been waiting for this one since I booked it last year, so the anticipation levels had reached quite a high by the time it rolled around. I’ll follow up with a proper post soon with some of my key learnings from the brilliant speakers and sessions. But for now, I thought I’d share an outfit that I wore to London.

Hello, I’m Kathryn and I appear to have an addiction to colour-block sweaters. Maybe it’s because I find it difficult to pin myself down to just one colour (or I secretly have a thing for novelty jumpers?). In any case this pale blue/cream/grey number from Fenn Wright Manson has been added to my pile of favourites, especially as I’m still wearing ALL the knitwear at the moment. Seriously, June? Why is it so cold? This one is loose, slouchy and good for layering up with vests underneath and I love that dipped hem style. Oh and it’s now in the sale, as are the trousers!
I do love a nice frock however I must admit I think I love the ease and versatility of trousers more. For one you don’t have to worry quite so much about whether your legs are in a constant state of readiness. But more so I like the fact you can relax that little bit more; kick back on the grass or go for it on the dance floor. Unless you have perfect pins, skirts can be just too unpredictable in a gust of wind and tricky to get right as you grow older (I only really do on-the-knee or midi lengths nowadays).
So all of this leads me nicely on to my new found solution to special occasion dressing: jumpsuits! They are really having a moment again this summer with their nod to the seventies trend and I love this floaty, floral, ultra feminine version from Anthropologie.
I love knitwear. It’s probably due to the fact that I always feel a few degrees colder than everyone else, even in summer, yes even abroad. So I’m never far from a sweater or a cardi, whatever the weather. I’ve also developed an appreciation of cashmere, not just because it feels SO soft and luxurious but because it lends itself so well to really lightweight summer knitwear as well as snuggle-up-in-front-of-the-fire winter knits.
I was in London earlier this week to attend an interiors event (more on that soon) so I popped down a day earlier so I could use the extra time to catch up with one or two friends. And I’m so glad I did because I ended up spending a lovely afternoon with one of my best bloggy friends Rosie, sampling the delights of the King’s Road and valiantly pretending it was spring (it had actually snowed the day before).
