Recently I’ve found myself in Kensington on more than one occasion. Appointments, events and opportunities have all conspired to mean I’ve somehow been drawn to this enclave of London and I’d forgotten how much I like it (at one point I lived just a bike ride away). So if you’re heading to London for business or pleasure, it’s not a bad place to base yourself, even just for a night.

With the offer of some rare overnight babysitting, me and the mister headed to York recently. We had 24 hours in which to pack eating, drinking, shopping and a little sightseeing; here’s what we got up to.
Luxury woodland cabins nestled in a forest with a wood-burning stove in the bedroom plus a luxurious en-suite bathroom. And all in my own glorious county of Yorkshire. North Star Club almost makes me wish for more snow.
The other week, I spent a really girlie and rather sensory day in London. If perfume and Vogue (plus a little window shopping) is your idea of a match made in heaven then I’ve got a couple of good suggestions for you to wile away a pleasant few hours in the capital.
Grade II listed Georgian coach house and boutique B&B, The Glebe House in London, is the perfect mix of history meets modernity. Put simply, it’s like staying in a cosy, quirky, beautiful museum but with underfloor heating and a state of the art bathroom. Interiors writer, antiques dealer and occasional gilder Alix Bateman has sympathetically converted the original building since buying it from the adjacent church ten years ago. By deftly adding contemporary furniture and accessories plus vintage finds from many eras she has created a really unique space that immediately feels like home.
