It’s hard to keep track of all the cool, nice things that give you the wanties, isn’t it? And when you are finally in the mood to spend some pennies, you can never remember where you saw them in the first place. That’s why I like websites like Hintons Home, which I came across recently.
Not only does this gift and homewares site collate a gorgeous selection of stuff (the products pictured above particularly caught my eye but I would happily give house space to everything on there), it’s altogether just a nice shopping experience.
I like the story behind Hintons Home; how a man called Robert, who came home from serving in the First World War, started his own wholesale company in 1933 so he could support his young family. Now, his grandson has taken up the reins 70 years on and has reinvented the company to create this new, multi-channel retail business.
I like the way that Hintons Home don’t just send you your order but they also enclose surprise treats like old fashioned sweets and sunflower seeds as a standard thank you for every customer.
I even like the little fox on the Hintons Home logo (these things are important people!).
But most of all, I like the fact that they sell really nice quality, design-led and practical goods, at a decent price. So next time your pocket money is burning a hole, check out Hintons Home!
Disclosure: I was sent a complimentary gift in order to review the Hintons Home shopping experience. As always, all opinions are honest and my own.
Much as I love finding a great second-hand frock in a charity shop, I’ve become increasingly drawn to the textiles section (aka the bit where they sell all the bed linen and curtains). We have several pairs of vintage curtains in our house; some made by my mum and others scored on ebay. I’ve also found some bold and beautifully patterned duvet covers and pillowcases, which I love to mix and match with my existing sets. I think it’s the fact that vintage textiles are usually so colourful and floral – I’m not one to shy away from a big bloom print, I can tell you! And I also love the way that a pair of curtains or a new duvet cover can easily and cheaply transform a room.
However these vintage finds have been the result of some serious scavenging and a few sweaty-palmed bidding moments on ebay. I appreciate that getting an authentic vintage look isn’t easy and of course finding the right measurements is a minefield too (we’ve been there!!). So, I’ve done a bit of window shopping online and here are my favourite bedding sets, guaranteed to give your bedroom a vintage look without the hassle. You’re welcome!
