Received wisdom would dictate that you never, ever buy the crazy or impractical when sales shopping, even if it does fit and it is a real bargain. But I would argue, that on occasion, you really can still strike it lucky. And sometimes, the sales are the only time you can truly justify and allow yourself that slightly bonkers but brilliant item you’ve always wanted. So I’ve scoured the shops for just a few of those wonderful, wildcard pieces that might just be perfect.
January calls for bold colours to offset the shades of grey (both in my wardrobe and outside my window) and as soon as I saw this red skirt it literally filled a need in me, like a chromatic shot in the arm.
Today, Blue Monday, is traditionally the most depressing day of the year and the winter blues have well and truly kicked in by now. Once Christmas is over and done with I am that person who automatically expects it to be Spring and am always a little disappointed when January doesn’t greet me with radiant sunshine and birdsong. But rather than wishing away the days, looking to Spring, I’m trying to enjoy every month for what it is. And as always I am a big believer in simple things and little treats to get me through.

As with any job, it’s easy to get caught up with the day to day demands of blogging and sideline all those important but non-essential background tasks. But as is also true with many aspects of life, it’s the little things that are often the big things.
